Touch of History

In the early 1990's, techies invented the World Wide Web and, in doing so, changed everything. However, in those early days, both hardware limitations and a sheer lack of vision kept the Web in one of two states of extreme artlessness: websites were either unbearably bland or gut-wrenchingly gaudy. Thankfully, over the past fifteen years or so, things have begun to change.

 

This much needed transformation was set in motion when graphic artists began plying their trade in this new ubiquitous medium. They brought into play the centuries-old art of the typesetter, the book designer, the sculpted beauty and simplicity of well-designed typefaces, and the magic of the divine proportion: elegant design is no accident. These things, site by site, culminated in the development of the Web's stylistic sensibilities, bringing a touch of elegance to the once sterile digital plane.
